In some cases, it is possible to change the start date of your policy.
I haven't bought my insurance policy yet
You can choose the start date of your policy when you get a quote. You can even get a quote for as soon as the current day!
You won't be able to change the start date of a saved quote. If your quote has the wrong start date, get a new quote for the correct start date through our website.
Please note: If we’ve asked you to complete an ID check, your policy will only start once you’ve successfully completed it.
I already have my insurance policy
We can't change the start date of a policy once it's already been set up.
Some customers may buy temporary cover if they need insurance before their policy start date. We don't offer this at Marshmallow, but there are other insurers on the market who do!
The other option would be to cancel your policy with us and get a new quote with the correct start date. Here’s our help article about cancelling your policy.
If you bought your policy less than 14 days ago and would like to cancel, there will be a £30 fee. After this time there will be a higher cancellation fee. Fees are different depending on your Marshmallow Plan, so please check your policy wording to find out how much you will be charged.
Please note: The start date can have a big impact on the price of your insurance. The price of your new policy may be different to the price of your current policy.
