For Marshmallow Car Insurance we may charge a fee for updating or cancelling your policy, or sending out documents in the post.
Fees for changing your policy
If you need to make a change to your policy after it has started, such as updating your address, vehicle, or adding a driver, this is known as a mid-term adjustment (MTA).
Depending on the type of policy you have with Marshmallow, you may need to pay an admin fee:
- Marshmallow Lightest, Essential or Move: £25 fee
- Marshmallow Original or Plus: No fee
As well as a fee, changing your details can also affect your premium, so your insurance cost could go up or down.
Cancellation fees explained
Most cancellations with Marshmallow incur a fee, but how much you pay depends on when you cancel and why you're cancelling.
If you cancel within 14 days of buying
- £30 administration fee
- £45 administration fee for Marshmallow Move plans
If you cancel after 14 days
The cancellation fee ranges from £60 to £125, depending on:
- When you purchased your policy
- The policy plan you selected
To find the exact fee that applies to your policy:
- Open the Marshmallow app.
- Go to the Documents section.
- Select your Policy Wording document.
If Marshmallow needs to cancel your policy (e.g. due to unpaid instalments or inaccurate information being provided), a cancellation fee of up to £130 may apply.
Late payment fee
If you miss a monthly payment, a £22.50 late payment fee may apply. The fee is raised the day after your missed payment and is separate from your outstanding premium. It does not change your overall policy price.
Documents postage fee
You can access your documents at any time in the Marshmallow app. But, if you would still like to receive your policy documents by post, we can arrange this for you. There’s a £10 postage fee to cover the cost.
